My Review of 2020
2020 was the start of a new chapter for me. Having recently graduated from my degree at Bournemouth University, I wasn’t quite sure where I was heading to next. So, when I was offered to join a grad scheme at a PR firm in London, I was more than excited to start. What I did not know, was that just a month and a half after my arrival, I would be experiencing a national lockdown for the first time ever.
Uncertain of what would happen next, I continued working from home for the remainder of my 3-month internship, and focused on putting out my best work, until my supervisors would tell me what would happen next.
I am grateful that The Academy saw my potential and decided that I would make a good addition to their team. This has lead to an incredible experience thus far, where I am continuously learning from my peers, and participating in fun and rewarding work.
To roundup the year 2020, here is a list of my favourite projects I contributed to:
Disney Classics x CHAOS
Disney Classics collaborated with luxury accessory brand CHAOS to create some phone cases featuring original sketches of beloved Classics characters. For this campaign we had models such as Winnie Harlow, Ashley Graham, Georgia May Jagger and Lila Moss transform themselves in their favourite characters to promote the exclusive merchandise.
The activity achieved top coverage in mainstream as well as fashion titles.
Kärcher
In 2020, the Kärcher team worked on a variety of campaigns. My favourites included #MovingHome , where we gave tips for people to reduce time and money that goes into cleaning homes before moving. We also gifted products for influencers to test out in their new homes. Our December campaign #CleaningUpChristmas had a variety of influencers and celebs including TV personality Kate Lawler and 2-time Olympic champion Victoria Pembleton, show different Kärcher products in action.
Marvel
Marvel Mania is a global celebration of Marvel, giving fans new ways to wear, collect, connect and play with Earth mightiest superheroes. In 2020, to celebrate its fifth anniversary, we collaborated with a series of influencers including Farouk James, The Grimwade Family and Kate Murnane to unveil a series of new Marvel products from Hasbro, LEGO, Funko and loads more. The activity got products into the hands of influential fans, generated media features and thousands of views, likes and shares.
Morrisons
Morrisons has been a really special account to work on in 2020. The campaign that I’ve loved being a part of the most, was when Morrisons announced they would provide £10 million of food to the nation’s food banks during the coronavirus outbreak, by producing extra food from its food-making sites and delivering more from its stores. This was only the start of many other initiatives to help the NHS, key workers, school staff and so many other people in the UK affected by the pandemic.
2020 felt like a really long year, but despite the lows, I experienced some really good highs as well.
Let’s hope for an even better 2021!
